Our track can be found in the plantations of Haigh Country Park, which consists of 250 acres of park and woodland (the hall was once the home of earls and lords). The park provides an enjoyable day out with something for everyone to explore and enjoy. The plantation area of the park is where our track is located, being a raised track for both 3-1/2″ and 5″ gauges and extends to approximately 1744 feet (1/3 of a mile).
Our track was built in three stages (as illustrated above), the original track was built in 1947, then the first extension was in 1974 which revised the length to 730ft and then the final extension of the current length of 1744ft took place in 1984
Facilities at our track include a meeting venue where members usually get together on Wednesday and Sundays (subject to weather conditions) and you will find that the kettle is usually boiling. There is a car park at the side of the track and local toilet facilities for society members and visitors. Our grounds are well maintained and enjoyed by both members of the society and general public.
